5 delicious tips to dance more often with you favorite follower :)

Have you ever been to a salsa or bachata social and wishing for many dances with you favorite dancer? But then it
just did not happen? I know I’ve been there and I wished I knew the tips and advice that I know
now! These delicious tips are from a followers perspective.

  1. It all starts with making a connection, be open to your follower, make eye contact with
him or her (also not too long – that can feel creepy) and invite her for a dance! While you ask her you
can already send out a joyful vibe by just being happy to dance and express together!
  2. When you stand together on the dance floor, look in the eyes of your follower (again not too
long) and then begin in starting positing of your dance. And in this starting position you
firstly breath deeply in so that she can feel it too and then exhale together. In this way you
give her a signal that she can relax and surrender.
  3. While dancing know that most followers appreciate connection more than thousand moves
in eight seconds, so less is more! It is all about the vibe! ✨
  4. Be thoughtful of moves that are more advanced and know that you can lead them lightly
instead of forcing. Feel how the follower moves and if there is space for more advanced
moves. If you feel a lot of tension it is probably not the best idea
  5. Adapt to your follower. Not everyone is on the same level, each individual has her own vibe
and style. You can adapt by observing and feeling the vibe / energy of your partner, repeat
moves that she likes (you will see a change in her if she likes the move), make her feel safe,
don’t force her into moves and create together ⚡
These tips will need some time and practice to get better in it. But if you keep continue practicing
these tips, and not in a creepy obsessed way, you will definitely have more delicious dances!
Another thing what me personally really helped in growing as a dancer is asking your favorite
dancers for feedback. I also asked if some wanted to practice in their free time, so not on a social,
and in that time I could slowly learn some new skills. The biggest thing I found the most useful is
communicating about what works, how does it feel and what doesn’t work.
Remember that dancing supposed to be joyful! It is not about being machine, or performing a
show for your dance partner.. (big turn off by the way) it is about expressing, making a connection
    and creating together ✨

Goodluck on the dancefloor, love Salsaytapas team!

Ps. Where written her or she is a reference to the role as a follower
